Good Shepherd Vestry Times
Welcome to the second edition of the Vestry Times; a once-a-month news blast designed to keep you updated on the workings of your Vestry. Here are the highlights from the May Vestry meeting.
We are trying something new to stay connected with our various ministries. Instead of having a single Vestry member assigned to each of our different groups, we have formed three ministry clusters. By combining our ministries this way, we hope to infuse new ideas and to provide better oversight, structure and communications support to Good Shepherd members and the ministries we serve.
Feel free to talk with any Vestry member if you would like to participate in any of these ministries or if you’d like more information. The ministry clusters and Vestry representatives are: INREACH (Formation, Membership, Worship, Fellowship/Family Life, Pastoral Care) – Linda Eveland, Brooke Forsyth and Pat Wieneman; OUTREACH (Mission & Outreach, Community Events & Relations, Shepherd Farm, Communications) – Todd Eller, Shara Erdel and Lori Fisher; STEWARDSHIP (Stewardship, Fundraising Events, Building & Grounds) – George Gray, Jen Holtmann and Joanne Owen.
We reported last month that repairing the stained glass windows was the next Capital Campaign project on tap. And since our May Vestry meeting, the project has been completed! Thanks to all who are contributing to our Capital Campaign. We have a big project coming up next: the repaving of our parking lot and driveway. If we get enough of the anticipated 2015 contributions in this summer, we could possibly get this work done this fall!
CORRECTION: Last month we mentioned that your Vestry approved a policy on how funds (designated/restricted donations, memorial donations and bequests) are handled at COGS. We said that our policy was within ‘the Canons of the National Church.’ Oops! There is no Canon that deals with that specific issue. What we should have said was that our memorial donation policy is consistent with common practice around the Church. Please accept our apology for the error.
If you have any questions about these matters or others, don’t hesitate to contact any Vestry member, Rev. Pamela, or Deacon Susan.
