John Barrett Musgrave

Musgrave, John Barrett Jan. 29, 1952 – Mar. 18, 2013. Born on January 29, 1952, in Goinia, Brazil, moved to Brasilia, and later Rio de Janiero. He moved to the US to attend Texas Tech and Baylor University. John was employed as a broker, in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he met and married his wife, Nannette Bert in 1984. He moved to Austin, Texas where he attended seminary at The Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He is survived by his wife Nannette, daughter Vanessa Lemons and two sons, Michael and William. He served churches in Austin and Houston, Texas before moving with his family to St. Louis where worked at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and Church of the Good Shepherd. Services: A visitation will be Wednesday 5 to 8 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the funeral will be held Thursday March 21, 2013 at 2:00 at Christ Church Episcopal Cathedral.
 
 The Rev. John Barrett Musgrave. Ordained deacon July 27, 1992, ordained priest January 26, 1993. Called as Rector of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Houston TX,  Aug. 1, 1999 to May 2004. Called to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Ladue, as pastoral affiliate May 1, 2004. Called by the wardens and vestry of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd as Priest-in-charge, Sept. 25, 2006, called as rector Oct. 1, 2008. Members of Church of the Good Shepherd have been collecting recordings of sermons and articles from Fr. John’s ministry and are developing a website library at http://johnsvoice.org, which will be officially launched in a couple of months.
 
Those who were touched by his faith, his humor, and his great heart will forever be grateful for his life and witness. “O God, who by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ destroyed death, and brought life and immortality to light: Grant that your servant John, being raised with him, may know the strength of his presence, and rejoice in his eternal glory; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.”
